How does the United States interpret Federalism? Does it matter if you are a liberal or a conservative?
Democrats embrace the interpretations of Cooperative Federalism while Republicans adhere to New Federalism. These distinctions are centered on the interpretation of the Necessary and Proper Clause and the Commerce Clause
Go to the 3.2 Assigned Videos- 10th Amendment , Necessary and Proper, and Commerce Clause and review the following videos:
- Tenth Amendement
- Necessary and Proper Clause
- Commerce Clause
After watching the videos, review the Supreme Court Case of Gonzales v. Raich Links to an external site., the Supreme Court case governing the authority over the legalization of marijuana in the United States.
Once you have completed these tasks, each student is to post an original argument on the subject of the authority to govern marijuana in the United States. Students are then to comment on the posts of at least two other students.
What are the Police Powers of the 10th Amendment?
This is not a discussion of your beliefs on the subject, but an argument on the location of the legal right to regulate the item.
