Recording Lectures in Otter

Using the Online Interface

1. Go to the Otter website Links to an external site. and sign in with your SMCCD student email address and your Otter password.
2. To record, click the Record icon.
3. You will see the transcript in real-time while recording, as long as your device is connected to the internet. 
4. To pause the recording, click the Pause icon. 
5. To resume recording, click the blue Mic icon. 
6. To stop recording, click the Stop icon.
7. Once the recording has been stopped, the conversation is saved automatically with the name "Note to My Conversations ."'
8. To change the name, click the conversation, then click the name and type a new one.
9. The conversation needs to be processed before you can view and download the transcript on the Otter website. You'll get an email telling you it's ready.

Using the Mobile App

You may use the mobile app for practically anything. When you're working online, just make sure play the audio through your computer's speakers. Place your smartphone or tablet near the speaker.

1. Open the Otter mobile app.
2. To record, tap the Mic icon in the lower right corner.
   You will see the transcript in real-time while recording, as long as your device is connected to the internet. 
3. To pause the recording, tap the Pause icon. 
4. To resume recording, tap the Mic again.
5. To stop recording, tap the Stop icon.
6. The conversation is saved automatically with the name "Note to My Conversations."
7. To change the name, tap the conversation, then tap the name and type a new one.
8. The conversation needs to be processed before you can view and download the transcript on the Otter website. You'll get an email telling you it's ready.
