Step 2.4: Clean Up on Aisle Assignments
Goal for Step 2.4
You know the drill by now--take a look through all of your assignments for any that you won't be using this semester. For the ones you do need to use this semester, get them organized into Assignment Groups and add a helpful naming/numbering convention.
Step 2.4 Tasks
Clear Out Check
- Click on Assignments on the left and delete any assignments that you won’t be using in the current semester, since we have copies of those in our backup course.
Sequence Check
- Sort your assignments into Assignment Groups
Links to an external site., either by grading category, type of assignment or by contract grade.
- Bonus Tip: This is also a great time to delete any empty assignment groups that you don’t need or won’t be using. You can also double check that your assignment group weights Links to an external site. are correct here as well, if you use weighting in your course.
- Unfortunately, your assignments don't automatically display in alpha-numeric order, so if you'd like to see them in course sequence order within your groups, you'll need to manually re-order them. Setting this up can make this page easier to navigate for you.
- This is also a great time to update your due dates Links to an external site. all at once, if you haven't already done that.
Naming/Number Check
- Add a naming and numbering convention to your assignment titles so that you and your students have another visual cue of the order in which they fall in your course. Use either numbers based on the module they belong in and their order, or number by assignment type.
