Step 2.3: Clean Up on Aisle Files
Goal for Step 2.3
With our modules and pages sorted, let's know take a look at our files. We'll again want to delete any files that we don't need anymore and get everything organized into folders with descriptive names.
Step 2.3 Tasks
Clear Out Check
- Go to Files on the left and delete any files that you won't be using this semester. Again, we have those saved in our backup course in case you ever need them.
- Bonus Tip: If you delete a file or image that is linked or embedded on a page that will disappear from the page and need to be removed or replaced. Be sure to double check your pages and modules after deleting things to be sure that things are looking the way you expect.
- Consider updating your syllabus Links to an external site. for the current semester once you've deleted all but the most current version of your syllabus.
Sequence Check
- Create folders to organize your files into, so you can more easily tell where files and images live in your course.
- Bonus Tip: A good folder structure to start with would be a folder for each module and a folder for course admin items (syllabi, course schedules, etc.).
Naming/Number Check
- Best Practice: Most importantly, set up a folder structure to organize your files in.
-
- → Folders Example → Folder Name: Module 1 Files
- Bonus Tip: You can use a similar numbering system that you use with your pages with your file names, or you can just be sure that your file names are descriptive and accurate, so that you can know what they are from their name without have to open them (EX: homepageheader.png vs. IMG309.png).
