Step 2.1: Clean Up on Aisle Modules

Goal for Step 2.1

In this step we'll be checking our modules to see if there is anything that can be cleared out, or consolidated. We'll then take a look a the sequence, or order, of our modules and do any re-ordering that would make better sense. Last, we'll consider some consistent naming conventions for our modules.

Step 2.1 Tasks

Clear Out Check

  • Collapse all of your modules and check if there are any that can be deleted or consolidated. Remember that deleting a module does not delete the contents of the module.
    • Bonus Tip: Consider creating an unpublished module where you can store things that students don't need to see, but you may want to refer to regularly, like like your notes, spreadsheets, examples and other course admin resources. This module could live at the top of the modules page, or at the bottom.

Sequence Check

  • Check that the sequence, or order, of your modules makes sense for you, your students, and your modality. Move them around as needed.

Naming/Numbering Check

  • Check that your module titles include consistent module numbers as well as descriptive titles.
    • → Example → Module 1 - Building Databases from Spreadsheets - Week 2
      • Bonus Tip: If you decide to include specific dates in your module titles, be sure you are committed to updating each of those every semester. If you don't think you can keep up with those updates, consider including just the week number instead.
