Turning a Mind Map Into an Outline
Mindomo Mind Maps and Outlines
Mindomo lets you create mind maps quickly and easily, then turn them into outlines that you can open in any word processor. I've created a video demo that shows you how to do this--but if videos aren't your thing, no worries. Below the video I give you step-by-step instructions.
Important Note: The demo focuses on the online version of Mindomo, but the downloaded desktop version works the same way.

Step-by-Step Instructions
- Open Mindomo on your computer or log into your account on Mindomo.com.
- On your computer, click "Blank Mind Map."
In the online version, click the Create button, then click "Blank Mind Map."
From now on all instructions are the same for both versions. - Click "Central Topic" and type in your main topic.
- Press the Tab key to add subtopics.
- Click topics and drag them on top of any other topic to link them.
- When you're done with your mind map, save it.
Click the "hamburger" icon shown here to find many commands, such as Save.
- Click the hamburger icon and choose "View as outline."
- Make any changes that you want to the outline, then click the hamburger icon and choose "Export."
- Select "Microsoft Word Format" under "Other Formats" and click the Export button--your outline automatically opens in Word if you have that loaded. Otherwise, you will be asked where to save the file. You can then upload the file to Google Docs if you wish.
