Build Your Vocabulary with Kurzweil 3000

Here's how to create a vocabulary study guide:

  1. Use the Highlighter to select words that you don't understand.
  2. Open the File menu at the top of the screen, then select the Extract option.
  3. Click "Extract Highlights to Vocabulary Study Guide" in the menu that pops out.


  4. In the "Open Column Notes" box, select "Open a new notes file" and click OK.
  5. Your new vocabulary study guide will appear at the bottom of the Kurzweil window. To close the guide and save it, click the little X on the top right of the vocabulary study guide pane, then select Yes in the pop-up window and follow the prompts.

Quick Alternative: Check the Dictionary

Kurzweil 3000 includes a built-in dictionary. Here's how to use it.

  1. Double-click a word to select it, then click the Dictionary icon on the left (it looks like a book with a magnifying glass on it).


  2. The definition pops up in a new window. You can click the Play button to have it read to you.
