4.8 | Center Around Student Learning
A typical syllabus often focuses on course content rather than the student learning experience. By transitioning the language of your syllabus from "what the course will teach you" to "what the student can learn," you can center your course design on students and their ability to learn. This shift in student perspective better equips you to understand each student's needs and therefore create an inclusive environment for student learning.

Switch from language such as "this course will..." or "students will..." to "we will..." and "you will..." |
Let students know what you hope they will learn through your course and what useful, transferrable skills they can plan to acquire. |
