4.3 | Cañada Course Template Syllabus Elements
Key Elements for an Accessible Syllabus
The syllabus is often the first exposure students have to a course. When students view the course syllabus they should be able to easily locate the following elements:
- Course description
- Instructor contact and projected response times
- Course modality and general guidelines
- Goals and learning outcomes
- Course materials
- Grading policy
- Cañada College policies
- Cañada College Student Resources
- Course schedule/summary (optional)
The syllabus is more than a guide to the course, however. It is also a reflection of the instructor. What is included and excluded in a syllabus sends explicit messages to students about what an instructor values. The Cañada Course Template contains a syllabus template that is natively built using the Rich Content Editor making it simple for instructors to customize the template with their specific course information, tone, and personality.
The following is a preview of the customizable sections contained in the Cañada Course Template Syllabus. Note: No audio provided.
