How to Locate and Import the Cañada Course Template

Okay, you love what the Course Template has to offer and you're ready to get started. Follow these simple steps to locate and import the template into one of your Canvas course shells.

Here's what you'll need: 

  • In order to access the Cañada Course Template, which resides in the Canvas Commons, you will need to be logged into Canvas
  • An empty course shell, such as a Canvas Sandbox or your upcoming semester course shell. While you can import the Course Template into a course shell that already contains content, it is easiest to work with the template in an empty course shell

Step 1: Access Canvas Commons

Log into Canvas. Select the Commons button from the Global Navigation Menu.

Step 2: Locate the Cañada Course Template

Now that you're in the Canvas Commons, type "Cañada Template - Full Course Template" into the search field at the top of the page. The Cañada Course Template is a "featured" item in the Commons, so it may already be one of the first items you will see when you enter the Commons. Look for the following thumbnail image and select it by clicking on the title.

Step 3: Import the Cañada Course Template 

Once you've selected the Cañada Course Template you can preview any of the resources in the Course Template (all of which are featured in the Overview video at the beginning of this module). To import the Course Template, select the Import/Download button, select the destination course shell (i.e. the course shell you would like to import the Template into), and then select Import to Course.

It can take a few minutes for the Course Template to import into your Canvas course shell. Return to your Canvas Dashboard, locate your destination course, and continue to refresh your browser until the Course Template materials appear.
