Module 1 | Canvas | Accessibility Checker
Automated Accessibility Checkers
Automated accessibility checkers are a wonderful resource and starting point to help you check the accessibility of your course content. However, no automated accessibility checker will guarantee that a page or document is entirely accessible. Accessibility checking requires manual inspection and often, human judgement.
The Canvas Accessibility Checker is built into all Canvas resources (Assignments, Discussions, Quizzes, Pages, Announcements, Files, Syllabus, etc.). It is recommended that you run the Accessibility Checker within each of these Canvas assets in addition to the manual checking you will need to complete to ensure the accessibility of your content.
UDOIT (pronounced You Do It) is another accessibility tool that has been added directly to the Canvas interface which enables faculty to identify accessibility issues in their Canvas course content. It will scan a course, generate a report, and provide resources on how to address common accessibility issues. UDOIT can be accessed in all Canvas resources (Assignments, Discussions, Quizzes, Pages, Announcements, Files, Syllabus etc.).
