Echo Smartpen FAQ

This FAQ applies to the original Echo Smartpen, not the most recent version. When the Skyline College EAC begins offering the Echo 2 to students, this page will be updated.

How many hours of audio will the Smartpen record?

It depends on how much memory your pen has. Each gigabyte holds 100 hours of audio.

How many hours does the battery last?

With a full charge (which takes about 3 hours):

• Capture text for approximately 13 hours.
• Record audio for approximately 5 hours.
• Record audio and text for approximately 5 hours.
• Play back recorded audio from the Smartpen speaker for approximately 5 hours
  Note: If it is not in use, the Smartpen will turn itself off after one hour. The Smartpen will make a warning sound a few seconds before powering down.

What do I do if my Smartpen stops working?

1. Charge your Smartpen for at least 5 minutes,
2. If your Smartpen is still unresponsive after 5 minutes of charging, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to reboot it.
3. If the pen is still not working, contact the EAC as soon as possible.
