Kurzweil 3000 for Skyline College Students

Kurzweil 3000 Basics

Kurzweil 3000 is text-to-speech software that not only reads digital text aloud, but also provides many other features that are helpful for students. This module takes you through Kurzweil's reading, annotation, and study guide tools.

One Login to Rule Them All

If you are registered with our Educational Access Center and have "text to speech" as an accommodation, you can use Kurzweil 3000 for free as long as you’re a student at Skyline College. Our Alternate Media program Links to an external site. delivers your books straight to your Kurzweil 3000 account in digital format.

The Skyline EAC assistive technology specialist will create an account for you. You will use this user name and password to access any version of Kurzweil 3000:

  • Kurzweil Online
Note: This online version works with Google Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge; Apple Safari no longer works with most assistive technologies.
  • Kurzweil 3000 for Windows
Note: Please contact our Assistive Technology Specialist if you would like this software installed on a Windows laptop.
  • Kurzweil 3000 for the MacOS
Note: We do not have online training materials for the MacOS version. Please contact the EAC for an appointment if you need support for this version.
  • A browser extension for Chrome and Firefox called "Read the Web."

Note: Kurzweil 3000 is offered to students at CSM and Canada College too. So if you are taking classes on more than one campus, you will use the same Kurzweil login credentials for all of your classes.
